The Train from Thailand to Malaysia

Well, we just dropped our bags in our Kuala Lumpur hotel after an unexpected two day adventure on lots of trains!

For some reason, our train from Sarat Thani, Thailand (a bus ride from Krabi) took an extra THREE HOURS to get to Hat Yai, Thailand. That made us miss our connecting train to the border crossing and also made us stay the night in the city. Hat Yai- not the best, but a nice night market?

At least they gave us this really appetizing meal on the long ass ride. Just kidding, George gave his back immediately.

So we got up at 6am to catch the commuter train to the border town of Padang Besar, thinking there was an 11am train to Kuala Lumpur. Guess what… There was a 4:15pm train to Kuala Lumpur. I almost turned into molten lava, George kept us cool and collected. Thank you George! Here’s a train photo! And a freedom sign (I think) in the train station.

After six hours on the train to KL, we finally made it! YAY! I can’t wait to not be sitting down tomorrow.

P.S. The train ride through Malaysia was very pretty.

Lesson learned: Do not trust the train times listed on the Internet.
